Duties:
Safety First and Sustainability are two core values for our client, leading international composites manufacturer Gurit. This role is pivotal in achieving the goal of ensuring employees, contractors and visitors, goes home safe and well. Duties to include:
Ensure compliance with legislation – advise management and manage expectations of regulators and business on HS&E Law, liaise with statutory bodies (HSE & EA), keep up to date with new legislation.
Health of Workforce – Implement, monitor and Audit the systems for COSHH management, Manual Handling, PUWER, working at height, VOCs and others that would cause risk to workforce or environment directly or indirectly.
Accident Reduction – Implement pro-active and re-active measures with the aim of reducing the severity and likelihood of accidents. Actively participate in detailed investigations to identify root causes and thereafter elimination/reduction/control of those causes.
H&S awareness – Explore and implement new ways to increase the awareness among the workforce. Ensure appropriate training to employees
Consultation – with employees on HS&E matters through the effective management of the HS&E committee and other meetings
Assist the company to minimise impact on the Environment via waste reduction, pollution prevention and reduction in energy usage. Promote recycling of hazardous waste and in general.
Fire Safety – Ensure all fire risk assessments are up to date, brigade inspections and maintenance of systems.
Dangerous Goods – in depth knowledge of transport requirements. Liaison with appointed DGSA Consultant
Liaising with corporate teams for data sharing & Improvements, then feedback to site management. Take ownership and drive all corporate schemes which are safety/environmental related.
Author of relevant Management System policy and procedures.
Point of contact for External Auditors for certification visits.
